While Alicia was shooting a wedding on the Gold Coast , I was flown to Airlie Beach to meet up with an old workmate, Tegan. Tegan and I used to work at Virgin Blue many moons ago and I was very excited to catch up with her again and to have the honour of shooting her wedding. Tegan and Hayden decided on Villa Botanica as the venue for their wedding and they couldn’t have picked a better location. The whole villa was a wonderful combination of South American Adobe/Bali style architecture, with a cactus garden, a rainforest that harbours beautiful butterflies (and a few mozzies), a private beach and manicured lawns and garden beds. The venue is decorated with rustic Bali style sculptures and furnishings with the main reception area looking out over the harbour.
The day of the wedding was met with the most magnificent weather. Crystal clear blue skys, the faintest of sea breezes and just enough humidity to let you know that you were in the tropics. Hayden’s mother, uncle and aunt flew all the way from Canada to be there for his special day – and boy, are their arms tired! Haha. Hayden’s uncle stood in as best man as his original best man couldn’t get the time off work. The boys were in good cheer and very relaxed having a few coldies and a laugh before donning their suits.
The girls prepared themselves at Villa Botanica, having their hair and make-up done in the dedicated powder room just next to Tegan’s suite. Tegan’s dress was elegant and simple and showed off her stunning figure. She was a beaming bride the entire day and you couldn’t take the smile off their faces from the moment they became man and wife. We walked around the villa and surrounding gardens for some location photos and the evening was topped off buy an amazing fireworks display that was a surprise set up by Hayden. What a romantic.
I wish you all the very best with your life together and I hope you cherish the images for the rest of your lives.
