Maryanne and Daniel

I don’t normally write for our blog, but when the wife says you have to write, then you write, no questions asked. (And no I’m not under the thumb… much)

Daniel is a minister originally from California who has now settled in Australia. He has a quiet and easygoing manner about him and all the groomsmen were in the same relaxed spirit. After quite a few laughs with the boys we headed over to the girls house to find that the front gate to the property was locked and there was no intercom on the fence. I thought to myself, “No problem, I’ll just call Maryanne on her mobile” but of course there was no service on my phone grrrr. I called out to see if someone could hear us inside the house but the house was closed up because it’s almost 34C outside and they have the air-con blasting.  So I figured I’d get in the car and drive down the road a bit, get a strong signal on my phone and call the groom so he can call the brides house to let them know we’re here… It seemed like a good plan until the car was bogged on the side of the road due to all the rain. After a number of attempts I got the car free from the mud and discovered to my amazement that I had regained a signal with the elusive Vodafone and called Daniel. 

After a short time someone came to the front gate and let us into the sanctuary of air conditioning. Aaaaaah.

The bride’s house was a hive of activity. There were make up artists, aunties galore, bridesmaids, a flower girl, flowers, dresses, presents – it was all happening (just the usual really) then out of the fun and chaos stepped a beautiful bride in Maryanne.

Both Maryanne and Daniel have strong ties to Salisbury Seventh Day Adventist Church and I was more than happy to be back there shooting. This is a congregation that I’ve photographed before and everyone is so welcoming. One of our previous wedding couples were among the guests and it was great to have a catch up and say hello. When we arrived we found the boys putting on their buttonholes just outside the church and then took our positions for Maryanne’s arrival.

You know when two people are in love just by the way they look at each other and you know when that couple is loved by their family and friends by the huge turn out at the church. It was packed to the rafters, as they say, with friends and family to witness this wonderful couple take their vows and become husband and wife.

After the ceremony we headed down to The Colonial at the Robina Golf Course and had some beautiful light to shoot with on the course before heading back to the huge reception.
