Their day was everything both Alex and I love about weddings; it was full of family – actually the houses were busting at the seams with family – filled with love and most importantly, laughs. Linda and Dallas have such infectious energy that makes them so much fun to be around.

The wedding was a blend of cultures starting with a Vietnamese tea ceremony at Linda’s family home, then followed by a Chinese tea ceremony and a luncheon at Dallas’ family home.  Linda then changed to western wedding attire for the ceremony at QUT Gardens Point where the couple first met.

There are so many magical moments that made up there day from each of them trying to speak the others’ language, to the heartfelt speeches, to the good natured ribbing of the groomsmen and bridesmaids who obviously cared about Linda and Dallas immensley, however nothing tops a Thriller dance routine.

Thank you Linda and Dallas for having us as a part of your amazing day and we wish you all the best and a long and happy future together.

No? You’re not alone. They are a relatively new group who are giving a very precious gift to families around Australia…

(taken from heartfelt.org.au) ~ Heartfelt is a volunteer organisation of professional photographers from all over Australia dedicated to giving the gift of photographic memories to families that have experienced stillbirths, premature and ill infants and children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units of their local hospitals, as well as children with serious and terminal illnesses. 

These sessions are a great way to capture the changes in your little ones as they grow so fast or it’s a wonderful way to update if you haven’t had portraits taken for a while. Maybe have your teens photographed just before they are filled with angst or perhaps grab your partner and make it a quick couple shoot so you have some high quality professional photos of yourselves together. If you absolutely love your images and wish to purchase more than what’s included in the package, that option is open to you with discounted rates available.

Due to the nature of mini-sessions, each session is limited to a family group of no more than five people. If you wish to include more people on a shoot extra ‘per person fees’ apply. I dedicate this post to just a few of the people that the ekka can’t do without…

No, seriously.

For those who aren’t local, The Ekka’s official name is ‘The Royal Queensland Show’. It’s a huge country fair that takes place over ten days literally in the heart of our city; and we’re not a small city with a population of over 2 million people of which attendance over the ten days is around 600,000.

I went to my first Ekka when I was just 6 weeks old and I have been every year since. I love this time of year as it’s my favourite weather with the cool and crisp mornings but warm and sunny days. Pefect weather teamed with my favourite event that makes me feel like a kid all over again and I’m a happy girl.

In recent years I’ve taken to documenting my trips with photos (2008 photos here , 2009 photos here - wow my style has changed!) and this year is no different. However this is just a small taste of what I have shot. There are definitely more to follow.

So this post is called, “Signs you’re at the Ekka” for a reason. When I was shooting the other day I noticed lots of signs that are totally okay for the Ekka but anywhere else they would be completely out of place. Enjoy the signs!

Charlene paid attention to detail for every magical moment of her day. On arrival at the Observatory Hotel, I noticed everything was pink, pretty and picture book perfect – even little Ruby the Chihuahua was dressed for the occassion. I can only describe Charlene’s choices as a modern day fairytale.

Andrew may look a little familiar to a few of the more sporty visitors to our site due to a few years playing 1st grade rugby league. He’s now moved on from NRL and on his wedding day he couldn’t have been more enchanted with his bride. As Charlene walked down the aisle of St Brigid’s church at Millers Point, Andrew’s eyes were well and truly connected to hers and all through the ceremony they shared little smiles and stole fond glances towards each other before joyfully emerging from the church as husband and wife. 

After the ceremony we headed up to Observatory Hill for some shots looking out over the harbour and then ventured down towards the docklands and the Harbour Bridge itself.

The reception was in The Team Room of the Queen Victoria Building. It’s a stunning venue and the couple partied the night away with some emotional and touching speeches, lots of dancing and a photobooth.
