A Perfect Portrait

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m always fascinated by family portraits and the way families grow and change. Even when it’s not my own family I could spend hours looking at old photos and smiling back at the people in them and trying to work out the dynamics between family members. Keeping my own little fascination in mind, when I shoot family sessions I aim to capture the family all looking at the camera as a record of how amazing the family unit is, but then I also like to capture the personality and the spirit of the people I’m shooting.

The photoshoot with Adema and her little girls Brianna, Katie and Grace and Adema’s partner Jarrod is a shoot that I fell in love with. The whole family went along with the flow and it was smiles all round. I think that my favourite photo is the black and white image of twins Katie and Grace standing together lightly holding hands while listening to their mum talking to them. This was an impromptu shot, it’s not the best focus but as a mum of twins myself it reminds me of how special the bond is between them. I guess it just makes my heart melt a little each time I look at it.

The added bonus with this shoot is that Adema also gave me the go ahead to do something a little but different and creative. Be sure to check out the fun the girls and their dog Mardi had in the very last photo.

Thank you to Adema and Jarrod and the girls for being so awesome. I am still loving this shoot like crazy. 🙂Gold Coast Brisbane Family Child Dog PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child Dog PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child Dog PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child PortraitGold Coast Brisbane Family Child Portrait

Linda and Dallas

I wanted to kick off the 2012 blogging year with a bang and when I thought about all the weddings we had photographed from last year and which one stood out the most, it had to be the wedding of Linda and Dallas.

Their day was everything both Alex and I love about weddings; it was full of family – actually the houses were busting at the seams with family – filled with love and most importantly, laughs. Linda and Dallas have such infectious energy that makes them so much fun to be around.

The wedding was a blend of cultures starting with a Vietnamese tea ceremony at Linda’s family home, then followed by a Chinese tea ceremony and a luncheon at Dallas’ family home.  Linda then changed to western wedding attire for the ceremony at QUT Gardens Point where the couple first met.

There are so many magical moments that made up there day from each of them trying to speak the others’ language, to the heartfelt speeches, to the good natured ribbing of the groomsmen and bridesmaids who obviously cared about Linda and Dallas immensley, however nothing tops a Thriller dance routine.

Thank you Linda and Dallas for having us as a part of your amazing day and we wish you all the best and a long and happy future together.
