We photographed the boys with a bit of thunder rumbling in the distance.

We then photographed the girls and dodged intermittent showers whilst getting some shots outdoors.

However Alex and I kept on assuring Mel that the weather would clear in time for her day and she would end up with an amazing sunset. Everyone was staying as positive as they could as they headed to the boats to make their way to the island. And wouldn’t you know it? The day ended up perfect. Family and friends were gathered round enjoying a wonderful afternoon and Mel and Mark had a spectacular sunset on the day of their marriage.

Mel and Mark and all the attendants were just amazing and loads of laughs. It was clear that this was such a friendly and loving group of people who had come together to celebrate the day and enjoy themselves and it was an added bonus that the weather was perfect.

Congratulations on your marriage Mel and Mark.

Erin and Cameron are one of those couples you can’t help falling in love with. Everyone is happy on their wedding day but I don’t think I can recall a groom who was so obviously excited about the day ahead. Cameron was smiling so much I thought his face was going to unzip. Erin was styled so simply yet elegantly and looked amazing – absolutely perfect for a beach wedding.

However with the non-stop rain that Queensland had, this was ended up as another ceremony that was held indoors. Nonetheless, it was a gorgeous ceremony with a positively glowing bride and groom who more than made up for the gloomy weather. After the ceremony there was enough of a break in the rain to head to the beach and get some photos while the incredible storms moved around us. Even some light rain during the shoot couldn’t stop us.

Pretty soon it was back to Kingfisher Bay Resort to party on. The room looked great, the cakes were incredible and the food was generous and very tasty.

Congratulations Erin and Cameron on your special day and thank you for treating both Katie and I as welcomed guests. It was lovely to share the weekend with you and we wish you well for your future together.

This wedding was well and truly an indication of how rainy the wet season was going to be. Before their wedding, I had never shot a location shoot at a completely wet wedding… and that’s over ten years of weddings! Sure, I’d had showers and I’d had downpours that passed over, but never a day that just rained and rained. All I can say is that Kimberley and Rhys definitely got us prepared for the weeks to come and the many rainy weddings to follow.

I have to commend Kimberley and Rhys – even when things didn’t go 100% to plan, they were both totally cool, calm and looked smoking hot. They were lucky that they had already planned to visit Restaurant II for part of the shoot to re-create their first date for a few laughs (including the girls ‘spying’ on them through the windows), and the management were amazing and allowed us to shoot a fair amount of the images in there and also wait out the heaviest part of the rain. Two thumbs up for fantastic staff who really helped make Rhys and Kimberley’s day all that much more special.

We ventured outside for as long as we could but with the rain bucketing down we made it as brief as possible before heading off to the reception as Hillstone. You have to love a reception that has such an awesome lolly buffet.

There was so much attention to detail and the whole day came together beautifully. The best bit was seeing how in love Julie and Scott are. I’d be about to say to them to have a little kiss and a cuddle and they were already there. Truly a case of only having eyes for each other.
